MILAN, September 24, 2011 Raf Simons showed us elitism of Jil Sander, again. white was dominating as usual. and not just only on clothes. white cat walk, white walls
connected with blue, green and yellow painted carpeting’s showed at once the
inspiration with the 50’s. Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy would be delighted with
the collection. mostly because they, and the whole mid-century, were the main
inspiration of the show.
'Recall' should be titled Simons S2012 Ready to Wear collection. It’s universal,
as well as universal the whole legacy of Jil Sander is. “Like a chameleon
adapts their color to the color of the ambient”, no matter whether the 80’s or the 21st
century.
The charm lies in the minimalist form. Simple and smooth cuts of skirts,
dresses, shirts connected with elegance, discretion and feminine.
Raf Simons thinks forward, showing his vision of the future, the classic elegance
in a futuristic way.
White is the dominant of this collection, which symbolizes the future –
light, purity and fresh perfection.
Taking into account the patterns, we can find the Jackie Kennedy style - her elegant and smart weightlessness.
Simple cut out flanges, necklines, subtle shoulders and details on the
back. Not to mention the hats.
For the first time I saw the hair, I thought about Grace Kellys hair. combed
to the back, pinned in a simpler way like in the 50’s with a pinch of minimalistic
and futuristic style. Congratulations for Guido Palau’s great work.
Again we have an example of simple elegance of America. and the use of the Picassos image on the
white sweaters ?
'I love it.', like Robert Rabensteiner said.
'The icon of modernism', like Simon called Picasso.
